JOIN THE GLOBAL VOICES FOR A SMOKEFREE UNITED NATIONS CAMPAIGN!
The Global Smokefree Partnership has launched GLOBAL VOICES FOR A SMOKEFREE UNITED NATIONS - a campaign to encourage governments of the world to support smokefree United Nations facilities worldwide.
The goal of Global Voices Campaign is for the General Assembly to pass a resolution in 2008 ensuring smokefree air for all its employees and visitors.
By adopting a smoke-free policy, the United Nations will set an example for all governments to protect workers and the public from the proven harmful effects of secondhand smoke. All employees deserve to breathe smokefree air in the workplace. The United Nations should be no exception. A smokefree policy also would meet the requirements of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, a treaty that more than 150 United Nations member states have ratified.
